Register now for our checking camp
We are happy to bring back the second year of our successful checking camp. This camp is designed to be so much more than simply exposing athletes to body checking. This camp will focus on the effective use of skating angles, stick positioning, and of course body checking to get the puck back. Players will have the chance to learn skills from a position specific perspective in 4 practices, while having a chance to apply their skills in two full contact games. Join this camp to learn or refine your checking skills so that you get noticed for the right reasons in training camp next season.
We will also be offering goalie development in this camp, where our goalie coaches will work with goaltenders to improve their foundational skills in a high intensity environment. Goalies will work on their positional play and on ice strategy in practices and have the opportunity to apply these skills in game play. Goaltenders will be provided with a breakdown of their play at the end of the camp.
Q and A
Who should sign up for this camp?
We believe that any player who is planning on trying out for competitive hockey next season should attend this camp.
My athlete has already played full contact hockey, what is the value for them?
We believe in approaching checking like any other skill, whether it be skating, shooting, or passing. In order to master any skill consistency and repetitions are required. Even the best players will only have the puck on their stick for a few minutes each game, leaving the rest of the game open for opportunities to be impactful with strong checking and puck retrieval skills.
My athlete is nervous about body checking, how will you help them learn this skill?
Be methodically introducing players to increasing levels of physical contact throughout the camp, players will develop their confidence so they can attack the game safely and effectively.
